2023 Spring Retreat "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." - Galatians 5:25
OVERVIEW Join us for our annual (though it's been a few years with the pandemic) Spring Retreat, Friday evening, June 1, through Saturday evening, June 2, at Maria in Reading. As in previous years, participants have the option to stay an additional night on their own (through June 12).
On the heels of Pentecost (June 5), we'll gather to claim the divine Spirit rising and moving in our midst - nurturing our own spirits to rise with it out of the wilderness of pandemic and all that diminishes abundance. Through singing, movement, group sharing and personal reflection to open and ground us, we'll be led by Rev. Rhetta Morgan, an interfaith minister, singing healer and spiritual activist.
PLEASE NOTE that the retreat is intended for adults (and perhaps older youth if interested).
COST Including lodging and three meals (Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner):
$90 for a single room (plus an additional $65 if you opt to stay over Saturday night*)
$80 for a double room (you may request roommate; plus an additional $65 if you opt to stay over Saturday night*)
* includes Sunday brunch if fewer than six people stay an additional night; includes breakfast and lunch if six or more stay (check out by 3 pm)
Please don't let cost be the reason you don't participate! Scholarships are available upon request - contact Pastor Tim if you need assistance.
TRANSPORTATION We will coordinate ride-sharing among participants. When you register, you can indicate whether you can provide or need a ride.
REGISTRATION & PAYMENT Click here to register (registration deadline is May 1; payment deadline is May 15).
Payment by check (payable to "Calvary UMC" / memo: Spring retreat) or cash is preferable to avoid online fees, but you can also pay separately online if you prefer.
For those who are able, donations beyond the registration fee are encouraged to help offset retreat costs and support financial assistance for those who need it. If you need financial assistance, please contact Pastor Tim.
We acknowledge that Calvary is located on the ancestral homelands of the Lenape people, whose presence and resilience in Pennsylvania continues to this day. We take this opportunity to honor the original caretakers who lived and continue to live on and steward this land, while recognizing the histories of land theft, violence, erasure and oppression that has preceded our presence here.
