St. Raphaela Center
2025 Spring Retreat: "Balancing the Scales"
Friday, May 16 - Saturday, May 17 (or Sunday, May 18)
St. Raphaela Center (Haverford)

All adults are welcome to join us for our annual Spring Retreat - this year, for the first time, at the St. Raphaela Center in Haverford. See registration details below.

Using the story of Martha and Mary's interaction with Jesus as our guide (Luke 10:38-42), we'll focus on the invitation and challenge of finding and sustaining spiritual balance in our lives. How we do balance time and space for work AND for for rest? How do we balance time and space to love others AND to love ourselves? How do we balance time and space for action AND for contemplation?

The structured retreat program takes place on Saturday, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. Participants are encouraged to stay overnight Friday to make the most of their retreat experience, but are also welcome to come for the day on Saturday (or Friday evening and Saturday without staying overnight). There is also an option to stay overnight both Friday and Saturday. Overnight participants will enjoy self-directed time Friday and/or Saturday night.

Our structured time together will begin at 9:30 am on Saturday (with continental breakfast available for overnight and commuter participants between 7 and 9:15 am). We'll wrap up right after dinner, between 7 and 7:30 pm. There will be opportunity for individual reflection and group sharing, ritual and singing - as well as some free time to enjoy the grounds and facilities at St. Raphaela!

CLICK HERE to register - deadline is May 1. Please contact Pastor Tim if you have any questions, or issues registering.

Retreat Fees
PLEASE NOTE: retreat fees are subsidized by grant funding, so do not reflect actual costs
  • Friday overnight: $130 (individual room) / $110 (shared room) - includes Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast/lunch/dinner
  • Commuter (no lodging): $65 - includes Saturday breakfast/lunch/dinner
  • Friday & Saturday overnight (as available): TBD - contact Pastor Tim if interested in staying both nights
We do everything we can to keep our retreats as affordable and accessible as possible. Please don't let cost be the reason you don't participate! Scholarships are available upon request - contact Pastor Tim as needed. In addition, for those willing and able, contributions beyond the registration fee are welcomed to help support participant scholarships.

Overnight Accommodations
Participants will be staying in the Center's House of Hope. Space is somewhat limited, so will be confirmed on a first-registered, first-served basis. CLICK HERE for details (scroll down the page).

Transportation
We'll coordinate ride-sharing as needed. Just indicate on the registration form whether you need a ride or can provide one. Note that the drive time to St. Raphaela is about 30 minutes from Calvary, and it's also accesible by SEPTA Regional Rail.
