Join us this spring for a five-week crossover Book and Bible study on Sabbath economics, using as a guide for our discussion Ched Myers' book, The Biblical Vision of Sabbath Economics.

Confronting capitalist norms, the book's summary of the biblical witness is three-fold:

• The world as created by God is abundant, with enough for everyone - provided that human communities restrain their appetites and live within limits;
• Disparities in wealth and power are not “natural” but the result of human sin, and must be mitigated within the community of faith through the regular practice of redistribution;
• The prophetic message calls people to the practice of such redistribution, and is thus characterized as “good news” to the poor.

Please note that an electronic copy of the book will be provided. You are, of course, welcome to get a used copy of the book if you prefer (and if you can find one).

ACCESSIBILITY: There is a wheelchair-accessible lift that takes guests from the ground level outside (the red door at the corner of 48th & Baltimore) up to our chapel and church office, and down to restrooms, classrooms and our Fellowship Hall (including kitchen).
