In cooperation with New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia and two other Philadelphia churches, Calvary's Community Care and New Sanctuary Movement Teams are sponsoring a winter clothing drive to support newly arriving immigrants - specifically those traveling in buses from Texas.
New and gently used, clean, ready-to-wear clothing can be dropped off at the church during worship on Sundays, or you can contact Lauren (215-820-5532) to make other arrangements. See the specific list of needed items below (NOTE: children's clothing is not needed at this time).
You can also donate financially to support the clothing drive, specifically to purchase new underwear and socks.
And in addition to the clothing drive, there is ongoing need for volunteers:
to meet arriving buses and help welcome people outside 30th Street Station, typically early morning (and typically with about 36 hours' notice); Spanish-speaking volunteers are preferable, but not necessary
who can provide temporary housing
Please contact Lauren if you're willing and able to help in either of these ways, or to get involved with Calvary's NSM Team.
