Black Lives Matter

Picture
Calvary recently installed a brand new "Black Lives Matter" banner on the tower at 48th and Baltimore! Click here to read a University City Review article, written by our very own Patricia Pate, about the project (March 17, 2021).

Many thanks to all those who helped make the banner design and installation possible.
“The banner installation represents an incredible team effort that shows the commitment to our diverse community,” said Rich Kirk, long-time Calvary member and Board president of the Calvary Center for Culture and Community.
We acknowledge that Calvary is located on the ancestral homelands of the Lenape people, whose presence and resilience in Pennsylvania continues to this day. We take this opportunity to honor the original caretakers who lived and continue to live on and steward this land, while recognizing the histories of land theft, violence, erasure and oppression that has preceded our presence here.
