COVID Protocols

Picture
PLEASE NOTE: These are working guidelines related to indoor worship and other activities (as of October 2022), subject to change. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 Community Levels for Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs, and will return to stricter protocols if circumstances warrant.

We appreciate your ongoing sensitivity to those who may be immunocompromised or otherwise at higher risk. And as always, IF you are experiencing fever, cough, shortness of breath or other possible symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home! And please get tested.

If you have recently attended worship or another Calvary Church activity and test positive for COVID, please contact the church office.

  • masks (covering nose and mouth): encouraged but not required; vaccination/boosters are strongly encouraged if you plan to join us in person!
  • hand washing/sanitizing: all participants are encouraged to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer (provided) upon entrance to the building
  • social distancing: encouraged to ensure maximum comfort (please move around as needed)
  • ventilation: with warmer weather, there will be fans to help circulate air as much as possible during the service (and between services)
  • worship leaders: full vaccination is required for pastor/guest preachers, music director and any lay leaders participating in worship; pastor/guest preacher, music director or lay leaders, if wearing masks, can remove masks while they are speaking/reading/preaching/singing (and naturally distanced from the congregation)
  • congregational singing: as above, masks encouraged but not required
  • choir: any choir members, if wearing masks, may remove masks while they are up front singing
  • Passing the Peace: as above, masks encouraged but not required; hugs are allowed as long as both parties are comfortable (please check first!) - otherwise, consider sharing other signs of peace
  • Communion: we use prepackaged, disposable communion sets (small cup with grape juice) and pieces of fresh bread for individual use; pastor will wear mask during distribution of elements; we will gather in a circle as numbers allow, stretching the circle out as widely as necessary to maintain appropriate social distancing
  • bulletins/hymnals: bulletins will include song lyrics; participants will pick up bulletins on their way in, and hymnals are also available for those who prefer
  • children: masking at the discretion of (grand)parents/guardians; we're exploring alternate options for Calvary Kids (Sunday morning activities and otherwise)
  • food/fellowship: for our monthly potlucks and other meals shared indoor, masks are required for hosts setting out food and for everyone when getting food - and otherwise encouraged but optional; social distancing when eating is encouraged to ensure maximum comfort

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please contact Pastor Tim.
